This episode was a bit delayed by technical issues we’re still having with iTunes (hang in there, subscribers!), but we’re rolling with this new installment of Uncle Ira’s Basement in which Frank, Frank and Jack discuss the recent release of news-grabbing movie trailers — leading off with the blockbusting debut of the second teaser for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

SHOW NOTES:

Trivia: In 1983, actor Mark Hamill told a highly prophetic story about George Lucas asking if Hamill would return as an older Obi-Wan Kenobi-like version of Luke Skywalker in a proposed STAR WARS: EPISODE VII to be filmed in 2011. Lucas’ plan was only a couple years off as Mark Hamill was officially cast to reprise his role as Luke in 2014 for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS to be released in December 2015. Watch Hamill’s interview clip on YouTube.

Trivia: The film was originally pitched in August 2001 by Andrew Kevin Walker, with Wolfgang Petersen to direct and Akiva Goldsman to script. Goldman’s script had Bruce Wayne’s fiancée slain by the Joker, which sends him on a revenge rampage and brings him into conflict with Superman who tries to stop him. The film was shelved, but in Goldsman’s I AM LEGEND (2007), a teaser poster for the film using a similar design of a Superman shield inside a bat silhouette is visible in the opening scene.

Trivia: For the Season Two DVD of PARKS AND RECREATION, Chris Pratt made a behind the scenes video in which he reads a fake text from Steven Spielberg about being cast in Jurassic Park 4. Four years later, Pratt actually was cast as the lead in JURASSIC WORLD.

Trivia: Sean Hape, better known as Iota, plays the fiery guitar which weighed 132 pounds, and shot real gas-powered flames which he controlled using the whammy bar.
