PLANET OF THE APES SCREENING & DDG MEET UP JULY 24

PLANET OF THE APES SCREENING & DDG MEET UP JULY 24

ONE WEEK UNTIL YOU CAN GO APE WITH THE DAMN DIRTY GEEKS!

Hot on the heels of the very successful fan meet up to celebrate our 2nd annual Planet of the Apes Day, the Damn Dirty Geeks are planning another APES fan gathering built around the TCM screening of the 1968 original PLANET OF THE APES on Sunday July 24th at 2pm in Burbank, CA!

UPDATE: our after-movie meet up venue will be the Story Tavern in Burbank, about a block away from the AMC Burbank 16 theater which hosts the POTA screening. If you plan to join us at or after the movie, please RSVP to this event so we can get an accurate headcount. We are only reserving restaurant space for people who RSVP to join us before Sunday.

To join in the fun:

  1. Purchase your movie tickets for the July 24th 2:00pm screening of PLANET OF THE APES at the AMC Burbank 16 theaters via the TCM and Fathom Events webpage.
  2. RSVP on our DDG Facebook event page that you’re attending our post-movie meet up gathering. Please indicate if you’re actually attending in-person so we can get an accurate headcount.

The Damn Dirty Geeks are planning a fan event around TCM's screening of the original 1968 PLANET OF THE APES on Sunday, July 24th.

If you plan to join us, we urge you to purchase your movie tickets soon to avoid a sell-out of this 2pm screening.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT CONDITIONS FOR ATTENDING THIS SCREENING EVENT:

  1. Since this TCM/Fathom Events screening of PLANET OF THE APES is open to the general public, the Damn Dirty Geeks have no control over or involvement with ticket purchases: if this 2pm screening sells out before you purchase your own ticket, you will miss seeing the movie at this particular theater.
  2. Movie ticket purchases to watch PLANET OF THE APES are the sole responsibility of attending guests, and seating is general admission, so first-come-first-served. Plan to arrive early at the theater for your best choice of seating, in case there is a line up before entering.
  3. Please call the AMC Burbank 16 theater directly at (818) 953-2932 about their costume policy before arrival, if you plan to wear any costumes, masks or prop weaponry. Attending guests are solely responsible for pre-approval from the theater on any costuming prior to admission for this screening.
  4. Attending the PLANET OF THE APES screening is not a requirement for joining our after-movie meet up, however. Fans are still welcome to join us for dinner after the movie at our location if you choose to skip the film.

That business out of the way, we look forward to seeing our friends and fellow fans at the movie and meet up afterward, and hope to meet more new friends attending for the first time! Set your ANSA navigation computers to arrive at Burbank, California in our future timeline… July 24th, that is!

PLANET OF THE APES DAY 2016 RECAP

PLANET OF THE APES DAY 2016 RECAP

Sample of the limited edition souvenir gift handout from the Damn Dirty Geeks' 2nd annual Planet of the Apes Day fan event: a parody newspaper imitating the vintage promotional newspapers printed with the release of the five classic PLANET OF THE APES films from 1968 to 1973.The Damn Dirty Geeks thank all of our podcast listeners, friends and fellow APES fans for making our 2nd annual Planet of the Apes Day event a huge success! Over 60 people attended our meet up at the Idle Hour bar in North Hollywood to celebrate the legacy of the PLANET OF THE APES films and share their fandom with friends old and new. Lucky guests received some cool APES raffle gifts including a Go Ape t-shirt, comic book collections and DDG magnets, while everyone received a limited edition souvenir DDG newspaper commemorating our party.

PLANET OF THE APES actor Lou Wagner (Lucius) was our special surprise guest at the Damn Dirty Geeks' 2nd annual Planet of the Apes Day fan event at Idle Hour in North Hollywood, CA.One of the highlights of the night was the arrival of our special surprise guest, actor Lou Wagner, who played Lucius in the original PLANET OF THE APES film, co-starring with Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, Charlton Heston and Maurice Evans. APES fans will also recognize Lou as the chimp busboy who has a flambé problem in CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES.

Lou was most generous in chatting with fans about his work in films and television roles, signing a few autographs and posing for photos with his fans — which numbered all of us, of course! Lou is such a kind gentleman and a delight to meet in person, and we thank him for joining us.

Below is a photo gallery of highlights from our Planet of the Apes Day festivities that will give those who couldn’t attend in person a feel for the hours of fun, sharing of stories and making new friends.

We’ve received many compliments and positive reviews of our event from those attending, and we thank you for the kind words. We couldn’t put this meet up together without you all joining in the spirit of the event, so congratulate yourselves on making the 2nd annual Planet of the Apes Day a big hit. Our sincere thanks to everyone at Idle Hour for letting us host POTA Day at their cool, fun venue!

Be sure to follow the Damn Dirty Geeks’ Facebook page for future notifications of the 3rd annual Planet of the Apes Day coming in 2017!

Meanwhile, we welcome you to RSVP and join us for the Damn Dirty Geeks’ next fan event: our PLANET OF THE APES Screening Fan Event on July 24, 2016 in Burbank, CA, hosted in conjunction with TCM and Fathom Events’ screening of the original 1968 PLANET OF THE APES film.
